Sensei Jo Titterington
Sensei Jo’s karate journey began in March 1984 at the Red Sun karate club in Preston, training alongside her Shodan-holding sister. While continuing her own training, Sensei Jo supported her sister in starting and running their karate club, Kobushi Karate Club in Bamber Bridge. Earning her Shodan in September 1990, Sensei Jo’s dedication grew as she achieved grades 2nd to 7th Dan under ESKA (affiliated with Amateur Martial Arts) between 1992 and 2019.
Kobushi Karate Club flourished, and in 2020, after a long-standing friendship with Renshi Ray and opportunities to train with Shotokan legend Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa since the late 1990s, they made a significant switch – joining the renowned SKKIF organization known for its close ties to Shotokan’s founder.
Though health conditions limit her training, Sensei Jo’s commitment remains unwavering. She continues to teach, known for her patience and dedication to helping students of all ages develop their karate skills.
